This first week in the new year, I continue with techniques from Teach Like a Champion. I also want to bring your attention back to the new State Core Curriculum which now has 43 states on board. What impact will that have on you, especially as you write IEP's? Are you writing them to the standards now? Some experts told Education Weekly, it's far from a universal practice.

Teach Like a Champion - Technique 32
The next technique from Doug Lemov's Teach Like a Champion introduces SLANT, an acronym for appropriate and efficient on-task attention behavior, a necessary underpinning of successful instruction.

Core State Curriculum and IEPs
Education Weekly now reports that 43 of 50 states have adopted the new State Core Curriculum developed by the Council of Chief State School Officers. Now the rubber will hit the road, as they work together to come up with assessments both for general education and special education students. You and I will need to include them in our IEP goals!
