Last year Harvard accepted a mere 6.9% of applicants and Yale accepted 7.5%. This year is likely to be even more selective. All of the Ivy League schools (although no report from Cornell yet) have reported receiving a record number of applications this year.

Large Rise in Ivy League Application Numbers
Columbia saw the biggest increase in application numbers -- a stunning 32% jump over last year. But it's looking like nearly all the highly selective universities are going to have lower acceptance rates this year than last (and last year broke all previous records).
