From Allen Grove, your Guide to College Admissions: U.S.

Today's newsletter looks at the empirical part of college applications: grades and standardized test scores.

Keep in mind, however, that all of the country's most selective colleges have holistic admissions, so your application essay, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation can come to the rescue if your numbers are a little less than ideal.

GPA, SAT and ACT Graphs for the Ivy League

The eight Ivy League schools are among the most selective colleges in the country. This doesn't mean that you need a 4.0 GPA and 2400 on the SAT to get in (although it doesn't hurt).

Click on a school's name to get a graph with GPA, SAT score and ACT score data for students who were accepted and rejected: Brown | Columbia | Cornell | Dartmouth | Harvard | Penn | Princeton | Yale
