This week I reference two articles I found of interest to all educators. The first was an article in Education Week that reports on a study comparing the American education system and the systems of high performing schools like Canada, Finland and Japan. The second is an article from last Sunday's New York Times that recounts the struggles of one community in the Philadelphia area as it deals with significant budget problems and the cuts that have to made in their local schools.

Catching Up With the Competition
Education Week just published an article online that reports on study just released by the National Center for Education and the Economy, that compares American Education with the educational systems of high performing countries like Canada, Finland and Japan.
