How to Get Along With Your Colleagues
Teaching can feel like an isolating job at times, especially when we close the classroom door to work with our young students. But that doesn't mean we're truly alone in our jobs or that problems can't arise with our colleagues.

That's why it's important to minimize conflicts in the teacher's lounge. In the brief moments we're chatting by the copier or eating our rushed lunches side by side, it's surprising how little problems can arise and consequently be blown out of proportion if we're not proactive.

Visual Telephone Game Lesson Plan
Lately, I've had a few different friends tell me about playing a modern parlor game that sounds intriguing. Even though my friends played this game just for fun (maybe even with a cocktail in hand), I immediately felt it could have relevant application in an elementary school classroom.

I'm dubbing it the Visual Telephone Game lesson based on the old game where you sit in a circle and whisper a sentence around to see how it's ultimately interpreted. The lesson allows students to think creatively while gaining valuable practice at working cooperatively.
