It's getting to be that time of the year when the majority of colleges are sending out their final admissions decisions. Unfortunately, for the country's most selective colleges, applicants will be receiving more bad news than good. Today's newsletter looks at what you can do if you find you've been waitlisted or rejected at your top-choice school.

What to Do If You've Been Waitlisted
Nothing is more frustrating than the uncertainty of a waitlist. It's neither an acceptance nor a rejection, but a maddening state of limbo. Learn what it means to be on a waitlist, and also learn some steps you can take to get off a waitlist.

If Rejected, Can You Appeal?
In most cases, a rejection letter is the end of the road unless you later reapply to the college as a transfer student. There are, however, a few special cases for which you can appeal a rejection. If you think you might have grounds for an appeal, be sure to read this sample appeal letter.
