From Jerry Webster, your Guide to Special Education
I share Technique 12 in Teach Like a Champion by Doug Lemov. I also give you chance to see how your state is complying with IDEA in my Blog, State to State, How's Yours Doing?

Teach Like a Champion -- Technique 12
Back with Teach Like a Champion to share the 12th technique, Hook It. This involves planning what is often called an "Anticipatory Set," that engages your students interest as they begin to learn new material.

State to State, How's Yours Doing?
States are seeking some changes in the way the Federal Government gathers information to rank how they are doing in abiding by the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA.) I include a link so you can check how your state is doing.

So, Who Made You the Curriculum?
When we expect our students to know when we permit some movement and when they must follow instructional rules, we are asking them to make US the curriculum. I found a great behavior management system called the color wheel management system that is great to help students understand different expectations for different situations.

And Now, From Las Vegas . . .
This is an update on my trials at job hunting, but also some questions about sanity in Arizona. So what is going on there?
