This week I respond to another issue brought to my attention by an old friend: is cursive handwriting really a requirement of academic success? Sometimes children eager to learn new skills will take to it, even students receiving special education services with fine motor issues. For others, it's torture. What do you think? A Holiday Unit
This plan was prepared for last year, when the Muslim Holiday of Eid fell between Thanksgiving and New Years. Still, the lessons on the traditions of Hannukah and Christmas will still provide social studies, language arts and reading opportunities.
