I heard from a parent that her son's special education teacher told her that collecting data was cumbersome. I was floored, so I address it in my blog "So, Do Your Job" which has already generated some heat. I give you another technique from Doug Lemov's book Teach Like a Champion, but abbreviate it because . . . well, I'm not sure it helps most special education teachers.

So, Do Your Job
Is data collection cumbersome? Or is it your job? Well written IEP goals should be measurable, so work on that goal writing, and collect that data!

Teach Like a Champion -- Technique 26
Technique 26 is another take on "Wait Time." It's "Everyone Writes," which encourage students to put their thoughts in writing.

So, This Is a Village
I met a whole lot of great folks at the Southern Nevada chapter of FEAT (Families for Effective Autism Treatment) from agencies, programs and educational programs that positively impact children with autism in my community.
