I share some resources for teachers of children with autism. I hope those of you who are teaching social skills will try out my social skills baseball. We will be doing it in my Middle School Autism classroom this week.

Autism News
I send you to a couple of interesting articles I read this week in the New York Times: One relayed the news that several scientists have independently linked certain "de novo" mutations at certain locations on the genome to children with autism who have no autism in their families. Another is an analysis of the recent CDC report that sets the prevalence of Autism at one in 88, a new high after last years estimate of one in 101.

Social Skills Baseball
This week most major league baseball teams will have their season openers. It's a good time to harness your student's interest by playing "Social Skills Baseball." This group game is a great way review social skills acquired during the year, to rehearse interactions and just to have a little fun role playing.
