From Jerry Webster, your Guide to Special Education
I'm back with technique 6 from Teach Like a Champion, as well as a new article on writing effective goals for progress monitoring.

Teach Like a Champion -- Technique 6
Technique 6 is "Begin at the End." A champion teacher thinks about the end result when planning a lesson. Whether that is a unit plan or a state standard, the end result should drive the plan for the day.

Bad Employment News for Graduates
The CEC forwarded me an article from the New York Times that lays out a pretty grim hiring season this year for new graduates. The AFT is predicting as many as 300,000 layoffs, and this year, even special ed teachers are not immune.

Happy Birthday, Youtube
Youtube celebrated 5 years just this past week. I discovered it has great resources for teachers, everything from humorous clips for teaching math to video examples of discrete trial training.

Writing Goals for Progress Monitoring
IEP Goals need to be clear, measurable and define what success looks like. I lay out the process for writing goals that lead to good progress monitoring.
