From Blythe Grossberg, your Guide to Private Schools
There is greater recognition than ever before that students may be bright but may need accommodations or changes in the mainstream curriculum to learn best. This week's newsletter focuses on a school called Eagle Hill that offers programs for students with language-based learning disabilities. There is also an article to help parents of children with learning issues chose the best school. Mainstream private schools also offer students with learning issues some accommodations, and the article below explains how parents can get help for their children in mainstream schools. Have a good week. Blythe Grossberg, your about.com guide to private schools

Learning Accommodations at Private School

Because they do not have to adhere to these federal laws governing the education of students with disabilities, private schools vary in the support they grant to students with learning and other disabilities. While years ago, private schools often said that they did not accept students with learning issues, today, most schools accept that learning issues, such as dyslexia and ADHD, and other issues such as autistic spectrum disorder, are common-even among very bright students.

How to Choose a Special Education School

There is a greater awareness than ever before of the different ways in which children learn and the recognition that some children, even those who are very bright, may need different settings than the traditional school in which to learn. Fortunately, special needs schools have cropped up around the country to educate children with developmental, behavioral, psychological, and cognitive needs that are not met in the general-education classroom. About Today: How to Haggle

About.com

From Jen Hubley, your About Today Editor
Mostly, I love flea markets. I love the chance to find something amazing for not much money. I love the weird tables, the ones with only one thing: suncatchers from the 1970s, for example, or else dozens and dozens of bowling shoes. What I don't love, however, is haggling.

How to Haggle at Flea Markets and Yard Sales
And haggling is kind of a must if you want to do the flea market/yard sale thing properly. There's nothing more embarrassing than spending too much money on something you'll probably re-sell at a yard sale in two years.

10 Tips for Haggling
I get hung up on the first tip: "There's nothing embarrassing about haggling." I'm always afraid that I'm somehow being rude, even when I know haggling is expected.

Video: Haggling Techniques
What did we do before internet video? Watching this is way easier than making my sale-savvier friends show me how it's done.

How to Haggle, for Travelers
For a person who longs to be polite at all times, traveling can be scary. What's good manners at home might be rude somewhere else. This makes shopping in international markets slightly dicey for foreign visitors. Here's how to do it right.
