From Jen Hubley, your About Today Editor
I've become tidier in my old age, but regular readers of this newsletter know that this doesn't mean much. I mean, my clothes organizational system used to be to have a dirty pile and a clean pile ... and then sort of a trail in between.

Top 10 Cleaning Myths
So clearly, there was room for improvement, and still is. For example, until I read this piece, I had no idea that bleach wasn't the ideal cleanser for every occasion.

7 Vacuum Cleaner Mistakes
Or: Why Jen should stop vacuuming up pennies instead of bending allll the way over to pick them up.

5 Stainless Steel Mistakes
The first time I had stainless steel appliances I thought, oh, hooray! "Stainless!" I will surely never have to clean them again. It turns out, not so much. They should call it "smudgeful steel."

10 Tile Cleaning Mistakes
Tile looks so sturdy, but even small things - a misplaced doormat, or a too-wet mop - can damage tile floors over time.

About Today: Apple Recipes You Won't Want to Miss

If you can't see this email, click here

About.com

From Jen Hubley, your About Today Editor
When I was a kid, you had to wait for fruit to be in season in order to eat it. This was sort of exciting. You would wait all year for the fall to come, just so we could have decent apples.

Apple Recipes You Won't Want to Miss
Nowadays, we can get whatever kind of fruit we want, all year long. (Whether or not this is a good idea is another story.)

Apple Recipes: Breads, Desserts, and More
Still, fall apples are the best - the freshest, the least bruisey, and, in my opinion, the most delicious.

Southern Cooking Apple Recipes
The only thing more delicious than fall apples? Multiple desserts made from fall apples. And, OK, the occasional salad as well.

Apple Cider Drink Recipes
Cider's right up there with pie as my all-time favorite apple-based treat. And that's saying something.

About Today: What to Do When Your Dog Won't Stop Barking

If you can't see this email, click here

About.com

From Jen Hubley, your About Today Editor
You can tell my sister's first child from her second, because the first one is furrier and wants to bark almost constantly. He doesn't, however, because he hates the laundry room like you and I hate the DMV.

What to Do When Your Dog Won't Stop Barking
Which is where he goes, when he won't stop barking. (The laundry room, not the DMV.)

Common Dog Behavior Problems
This usually works, although it causes heartache in baby no. 2, who has been known to stand outside the laundry room door and cry, "Yukie! Yukie!" until Luke has learned his lesson and can rejoin society.

How to Train Your Dog
So, in short: Dog training is easier than baby training.

When the Neighbor Is the Problem
And the grown humans? Almost impossible to train. Which is why, if you have to have a barking problem, it's better if it's your dog and not the neighbor's.
